Jill Kelleher has
been working in matchmaking for 18 years. The
company’s clients include entrepreneurs, venture
capitalists, CEOs, doctors, attorneys, writers and
producers.
Marketdata
interviewed Christie Kelleher in
New York. She informed Marketdata that female clients do pay for their service
and the mix is about 50/50 male/female. The company
has a public relations agency and a web site, and
advertises in such magazines as: New York Magazine,
New Jersey Monthly, Delaware Today and various
New York
City newspapers.
Ms. Kelleher
claims that her office has about 700 active clients,
some referred from other offices. Fees range from
$3,500 to $15,000, for a one-year membership. The
higher priced packages allow clients to tap into the
firm’s other offices around the country.
Ms. Kelleher
said that the dating websites such as Match.com
haven’t really affected their business, claiming
that many of their clients try these websites and
become disenchanted with them. She finds that many
people registered with dating websites are going
through divorces and separations and are in states
of emotional transition—not something that high
profile executives are looking for in a mate. She
feels that some of the dating franchises may have
been hurt more by the proliferation of new
websites.
